After graduating from LDSS, I attended Fanshawe
College in London for Civil Engineering
Technology.
During college, I worked for the Town of
Leamington for summer breaks and co-op work terms.
Upon graduation from Fanshawe in 1991, the job
market was completely dead in the Civil
Engineering field, so I decided I would continue
on with my education and go to UWO for Civil
Engineering, in hopes that things turned around by
the time that I was finished. Just prior to my
moving back to London however, I was offered a
full time position that had been vacated in the
Town of Leamington Engineering Department, and I
have been there since.
I work pretty much every day with Tracey
Pillon-Abbs on development issues, and I have been
working on quite a few projects recently with Alan
Botham who works for Dillon Consulting.
In April of 2000 I married Amy Charko and we have
two great boys Hayden (5), and Nathan (3).
In January 2006 we moved from Leamington to
Wheatley (back home for Amy). We found a new house
in a great neighbourhood that is close to the
Lake, and backs onto the Wheatley Provincial Park.
Now it’s just a matter of getting the lawn to
grow in properly, do the landscaping, finish the
basement, etc, etc.
Amy has run her own business in Leamington (A
Perfect Ten Esthetics) since 1997. The business
has grown from an in-home occupation in part of
the main floor, to an eight employee business that
took over the entire house. I get the job of
fixing any problems with the computer system, and
maintaining and upgrading the 100 year old house
that the business is in.
Hayden just finished his first year of hockey, and
had a blast. Now it is on to soccer and baseball
for both the boys this summer. It is Nathan’s
first year for both. Hopefully for the coaches’
sake, he can focus his energy into the game.
Amy and I both enjoy golfing and try to get out
with friends whenever we can find time. Both we
and Amy’s parents have been taking Hayden out to
the driving range periodically and he seems to
enjoy it as well.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the
reunion this summer.
