After High School, I completed a 2 year diploma in
Aviation Management in Thunder Bay and became a
bush pilot. 1991 found me on my 3rd layoff in an
industry imploding from a dying travel industry
that was clearly not living up to the thrills I
imagined. So, I packed up the shorts and aquasocks
and headed back to Thunder Bay to study Accounting
- No Kidding! Fortunately, a lackluster accounting
prof and an IBM 286DX saw me change majors and
finish my Commerce Degree with a major in
Management Information Systems.
I moved to Brampton in 1995 to work a Systems
Analyst stint with Nortel and, very much against
my will, left the organization in 2002 with nearly
60,000 other people. Shortly thereafter, I took on
a position as Systems Administrator at NexCycle
Plastics where I am still employed and manage to
do everything BUT Systems Admin.
Most importantly, in 1992 I met the woman who
would be and still is the love of my life -
Nordianah. Although holding a teacher
certification and psychology degree, she is
happily employed as a fitness instructor and
introduced me to the practice of yoga. It is a
perfect balance for another sport - Shotokan
Karate - which has kept both of us busy in our
"spare time" as assistant instructors.
