Hey there, I guess my username won't tell you who
I am so here goes, I am Christy (Pilmer) Calhoun.
After graduating gr 13 in '87 I went to
Mohawk College in Hamilton. I completed the
Radiography diploma program (MRT(R)) in 1989 which
included training at K-W Hospital (now known as
Grand River Hospital in Kitchener). Upon
graduation I wrote my registration exams and sadly
had to rewrite the physics portion (never a strong
subject for me - sorry Mr Kientopp). After a six
month wait to write and pass the physics portion I
found myself working at Etobicoke General
Hospital. This only lasted 9 months as the culture
shock for me was too big. I was offered a job at
the hospital I trained at and gladly took the
position. I've now been working at Grand River
Hospital for 16 years and still enjoy what I do.
During those 16 years I have worked full-time,
part-time and now casual hours. I have also during
this time frame attained my Advanced Certification
in Radiography (ACR). I did a stint in the CT scan
area but found the stress too much and have gone
back to doing general x-ray. Most of my hours are
at the chronic care site of GRH and I thoroughly
enjoy it.
In 1998 I met my husband Dale while I was on
a bowling league with some girls from work - never
thought that's where I'd meet the man of my
dreams!!! We were engaged 7 months later - he
surprised me by whisking me off to Bermuda to
propose!!!! We married in June 1999 and haven't
looked back since. In 2000 we had our son,
Nicholas and then in 2002 our daughter, Brenna.
They are the joys of my life!! They are keeping us
busy with hockey, ringette and of course, swimming
- they are both little fishes!! Dale grew up in
the Kitchener area and works with his dad as an
investment advisor
We have 3 kittens (Becca, Bella, Beatrice) and an
old cat (Cleo - she's 16 yrs old, my first "baby")
I'm enjoying my free time (when the kids are
in school) by doing some scrapbooking (a recently
found passion), photography, working in the garden
(once the weather warms up) and just generally
hanging around the house doing the everyday boring
stuff.
I'm so glad that I found out about this
website, I love to see what others have done since
graduating and how everyone is doing.
