3 hr line up for tickets

04/23/2007 12:24:39 / frustrated

O.k now I feel like there has got to be something wrong with my kids dance program......People seem to think that it is odd that we had to wait in line for doors to open at a ticket fair for a dance recital that our kids have been preparing for , for the last year........

Does anyone have children in Dance?????How did you get your tickets??????

All I know was that tickets went on sale at 1:00 people started lining up outside of villanove festival theatre at 9a.m.  I realize that our kids are our stars and all but at what point does this seem ridiculous....Pitching a tent practically waiting for tickets to a recital.  I don't know maybe this is how it works but It does seem a little far fetched......

We did it last year too and I am thinking that there has to be a better way to do this......A little frustrating....I did get my tickets but I had a maximum that I was able to get.... Here is another sore spot....I have 4 kids that pay to dance every year...... I am allowed 5 tickets for my family but then again a family with one dancer gets the same 5...So now if my kids didn't all belong to me they would each get 5 tickets but becaus ethey are the same family I only get 5 still....Am I little crazzzzy and self absorbed??????? I just think that I pay seperate tuition for my kids so I should get seperate tickets....Oh wee must be that I am cranky I guess.....

Let me know what you all think of this......Am I being unreasonable???????

i think you are being COMPLETELY reasonable in your thoughts/expectations - that is freegin' crazy to have to stand in line for something that you have a right to, full stop.  They should just mail you your tickets or have you pick them up at the end of a class or something... that is really kind of pompous or something... well, something STOOOPID.  I don't even stand in line for crazy things like restaurants (and, as much as I love food... trust me, I'm surprised I don't!) or concert venues... and, I'd be more accountable to attend something that my child was in, but I would bo SO anti--that-line-up, that I'd probably bail or break a leg so I didn't have to go... or find a new school.... but, I'm lazy....

I'd write a letter and let them know that it's totally whacked.

good luck!!!

Jenn, I can honestly say that this is the first time I've ever heard of having to stand in line for tickets for something your child is in.  Most of the time, parents are allowed so many each, and then it's first come, first serve for the extras.  NEVER, ever have I heard of an organization making their parents stand in line.  If the tickets are in that much demand, why don't they just do more than one show or day?  I just don't get it.  And yes, I think it's unfair that you get as many tickets as someone with one child.  I think they've never been challenged with any of these issues and that's why they get away with it.
