mini reunion
DATE: 09/09/2007 11:30:42 / MOOD: happy

Well, thanks to the Class of '87 having a reunion this year I have done some searching for classmates of the Class of '86/87 and found there are a few in the Kitchener/Waterloo/GTA area (I know there are more but these are who I could find).  I took a chance and contacted them thru various websites/email addresses, Sat Sept 22 we are getting together at my place - with families/significant others in tow.  I'm so excited!!  There will be about 20 people here (that includes the kids) and we are doing a little potluck dinner.  I'm a little nervous as it has been 21 years (and my body is not what I want it to be).  After reading all the great comments after your reunion I'm very encouraged - I hope this will eventually turn into planning for a 25 year reunion for our class.

I don't get to this site as often as I'd like but when I do it's so much fun to see what's happening - especially like the blogs and the photos.  I never feel I have much interesting/exciting to contribute so I just watch from the sidelines.  I will try to make myself seen more often!!

We survived soccer tourney today
DATE: 07/28/2007 21:51:16 / MOOD: happy

Yay - soccer is done for another summer!!!  Nicholas' team was amazing the last 2 days.  They finished 4th overall in the league (10 teams) so they were in pool A for the tourney and up against some really tough teams - they ended up winning 2 of the 4 games - the last one was against the unbeaten team of the league - our team was thrilled to have broken their unbeated streak!!  Nicholas scored twice today - YAY Nicholas!!

Brenna had her first soccer tourney ever and she was not wanting to be there - the first game she just stood on the field for the first half and then wandered all over.  The second game the only contact she made with the ball was in warm up - she wandered the field for the rest of the game.  She says she had fun but it sure didn't look like it to the rest of us.  Oh well - she says she wants to play again next year.  Kids, go figure!!

Monday is the wrap up for Nicholas' baseball leaving us with Summer Thunder Hockey on Sunday evenings.  Whew, I'm going to have time now to enjoy dinners with the family instead of running to games.  I wouldn't sign them up if they didn't like the games - we'll see how next summer goes and if we do as much.

Happy Canada Day
DATE: 06/30/2007 22:27:11 / MOOD: bored

Hey there, Happy Canada Day everyone!!

I'm sitting here at work putting in time - only an hour to go!!  I'm back in tomorrow evening and I hope it's as nice for us as tonight has been.  It's not so nice for our patients.  Unfortunately our emerg is short 2 doctors so the one doc on tonight is swamped.  That means he's too busy to order lots of xrays on the patients that are waiting.  I feel really bad for the patients - the nurses are telling them when they check in that they can anticipate a 10-12 hour wait tonight just to be seen - UGH!!  Oh the joys of working on the frontline of healthcare!!

Have a great weekend!!!!

Soccer Night in Ayr - way to go Blue Jays!!
DATE: 05/30/2007 21:17:13 / MOOD: excited

Well, I didn't think tonight was going to happen.  Nicholas had scraped up his ankle at school yesterday and it looked kind of nasty.  When I went to put on his soccer shin pads it was really bothering him and I didn't know if he'd even get out on the field.  With a little adjustment to the shin pad he got out on the field.  Shockingly he scored the 2nd goal of the game.  The best part is that we were playing against the neigbour's team and the dad is the coach and is super competitive.  We beat their team 3-1 and gave them their first loss of the season(they were in 1st place coming into this game).  I was so excited that our kids beat them - does that make me a bad person??!!  Or am I just a proud Mom of an injured little player?  (Nicholas ended up not finishing the game because he got kicked on that ankle and it was really hurting again.)

A Poem About Our Girlfriends
DATE: 05/30/2007 21:06:20 / MOOD: happy

A POEM ABOUT OUR GIRLFRIENDS

Someone will always be prettier.
Some will always be smarter.
Some of their houses will be bigger.
Some will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go,
and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it!

The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know,
she's got the car, the house, the clothes~~~~might be lonely.
And the word says, "If I have not Love, I am nothing."
So, again, love you.
Love who you are.

Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say,
"I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed, to be disappointed!"
"Winners make things happen~~
Losers let things happen."

Be "blessed" ladies~~~~~and pass this on to encourage another woman.

"To the world you might be one person, but to the one person you just sent this to,it could "mean so much."

The weed's are taking over
DATE: 05/09/2007 20:56:51 / MOOD: frustrated

Today I finally found a few minutes to start tackling my garden.  Of course it is full of weeds and it looks like the time I spent didn't count for anything - hardly put a dent in it!!  I was out of commission last spring/summer due to knee surgery and was very careful of any kneeling for the duration of the summer.  Now, I pay for it - a garden full of weeds!!

I know that I will see the light at the end of the tunnel but of course, tomorrow is my day off and they are calling for some rain - I hope they are wrong!!!!

I love seeing the results of all my hard work but right now it seems along way off.
